Planet Hockey uses SSL Security
What is SSL?
Originally developed by Netscape, SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It is the leading security protocol on the Internet.
We use the latest SSL technology to ensure all shopping cart transactions cannot be intercepted during a transaction. This is the same SSL used by many banks and trust companies to conduct personal banking over the internet.
When you enter the final stages of ordering through our shopping cart, you will notice a small 'lock or key graphic' appear at the bottom of your browser screen. Depending on setting and the browser, you may also receive a notice that you are entering or leaving a secure server. This is your assurance that everything is working as it should, for your protection.
Any information sent to our web server is encrypted or scrambled, making it impossible to intercept or steal.
What makes a transaction secure:
SSL security is a mathematical process that turns meaningful words and numbers into a coded unrecognizable message string. This prevents any unauthorized viewing or use as it passes over the internet. It can only be translated or decoded into meaningful information once it has reached it's authorized destination.
Secure Web Browsers:
You may use the following web browsers to safely order by credit card on our site:
Netscape Communicator
Netscape Navigator 1.1x or later
Mozilla Firefox
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 or later
America Online (AOL) 3.0 or later
Web TV
On WebTV, you need to press the "INFO" button on the keyboard (select the "Options" button and then select "INFO" on the small remote). If a "Security Details" button is displayed, the page is secure. Select this button for more information.
You will process all credit card transactions 'in-house' with your own merchant account, just like you were conducting business in person or placing an order over the phone or by fax.
